The PILOT CET exam serves as a foundational step toward entering aircraft pilot license training but it is not sufficient on its own. Administered by Pilot CET this entrance test evaluates candidates eligibility for pilot training programs including Private Pilot License (PPL) Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Helicopter Pilot Licenses (HPPL and HCPL). To be eligible for the PILOT CET, candidates must have completed their 12th standard with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and be between 17 to 35 years of age at the time of admission. The exam consists of 90 multiple choice questions and is conducted online in both Hindi and English, with no negative marking. Candidates can attempt the PILOT CET up to three times, and the highest score is considered during counseling. Additionally scholarships are available based on performance ranging from upto 100% tuition fee coverage for top-ranking candidates.

However, passing the PILOT CET is just the beginning. To obtain a pilot license in India candidates must enroll in a training program at a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved flying school. The training involves rigorous theoretical coursework and practical flying hours. For a CPL this includes a minimum of 200 flight hours, passing DGCA theory exams, and obtaining a Class 1 medical certificate. The PILOT CET does not replace these requirements instead it facilitates admission into recognized training institutes. Therefore, while the PILOT CET is an essential step, it must be followed by comprehensive training and certification processes to become a licensed pilot.
