Once you finish the Training Syllabus for Private Helicopter Pilot License many exciting opportunities open up for you. This training gives you the basic skills to fly a helicopter safely under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). But this license is mainly for personal or private use. It does not allow you to get paid for flying.
If you want to fly helicopters professionally, the next logical step is to pursue a Commercial Helicopter Pilot License (CHPL). This license lets you fly helicopters for pay, work in the aviation industry, and build a real career as a pilot.
To train for the commercial license, you must complete more flying hours, deeper theory classes, and advanced skills beyond what you learned in the Training Syllabus for Private Helicopter Pilot License. The Commercial Helicopter Pilot License training will include advanced navigation, emergency handling, night flying (if needed), and other professional skills. Some schools also require a minimum total flight time before you can take the commercial exams.
Moving to a commercial license is important if your goal is to work as a helicopter pilot. With a commercial certificate, you can join:
Charter and tour services
Emergency medical services
News and media flight crews
Search and rescue teams
Corporate or VIP flight operations
You will also gain stronger flying experience and more confidence in your abilities
