A Class 2 Medical Certificate is an official health clearance given to student pilots private pilots and certain non commercial flying license holders. It ensures that a pilot meets the basic physical and mental fitness standards required to operate an aircraft safely. The examination covers eyesight hearing blood pressure, ECG (heart check) and overall medical history to rule out conditions that may affect safe flying.
This certificate is usually the first step for anyone starting pilot training as flying schools require it before allowing a student to begin flight lessons. While it is less strict than the Class 1 Medical Certificate (needed for commercial airline pilots) it still ensures that a pilot does not have any major health issues. In India, it is issued by DGCA approved doctors. Passing this medical exam shows that the pilot is fit to learn and fly under supervision, ensuring both safety and compliance.
