Understanding the CPL DGCA Syllabus & Passing Criteria

When you look at the CPL DGCA syllabus or CPL exam syllabus DGCA it outlines several ground theory subjects that every aspirant must clear. The DGCA exam pattern / DGCA syllabus CPL includes subjects like Air Regulations Aviation Meteorology Air Navigation Technical General and Technical Specific. Sometimes there is also the RTR (Radio Telephony Restricted) paper.

What is the Passing Percentage Required

For the CPL syllabus DGCA exam the minimum passing percentage required in each subject is 70% marks. 
This means you cannot pass overall by doing very well in some subjects and poorly in others  each paper must be cleared with 70%. 

Regarding RTR (if applicable) it is often conducted under the Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) or a separate authority. The passing marks for that may differ or have specific criteria. But for core CPL subjects under DGCA 70% is the standard for passing.

  • No negative marking in most subjects under DGCA in these theory papers. This means every correct answer contributes directly to your marks.

  • To get that 70% consistent preparation across all subjects is necessary. Some subjects like Air Navigation are more challenging and require more effort because they often have more numericals chart work and depth.
