India's aviation industry is expanding very fast. Airlines have placed huge orders for new aircraft more than 1,700 planes meaning they will need many more pilots in coming years. Also increasing numbers of people are choosing to fly both domestically and internationally. This rising passenger traffic pushes airlines to add more flights which means more pilots will be needed. Another major driver the push for regional connectivity. With new airports and routes especially to smaller cities under schemes like UDAN airlines will need pilots for regional jets turboprops and short haul flights.
Commercial airline pilots (First Officer / Captain): As airlines grow fleets and add long and short haul routes they will need both co pilots (First Officers) and experienced Captains for narrow body and wide body jets.
Regional / Short-haul pilots for turboprops and small aircraft: With regional connectivity expanding to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities there will be demand for pilots trained on smaller aircraft and regional jets.
Pilots for charter cargo and private aviation: Demand is not limited to passenger airlines. Growth in cargo transport charter services and private flights will also create jobs for flexible trained pilots.
Newly licensed pilots (fresh CPL/PPL holders): Because many senior and experienced pilots are retiring or leaving airlines will increasingly look to newer pilots fresh graduates with certification especially for regional routes and smaller aircraft.
Over the next 5-10 years as more airplanes come into service new airports open and domestic & international air travel keeps rising India will need thousands of new pilots each year. This makes aviation a promising long term career option if you get proper training certification (CPL/PPL) and are ready for flying shorter or regional routes initially before moving to big jets.
