In India, a Class 2 Medical Examination is the first step for aspiring pilots before they can proceed to a Class 1 medical. This exam can only be conducted by DGCA-empanelled Class 2 medical examiners who are spread across different cities. The official list of approved doctors is available on the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) website, where you can search by state and city. Once you choose a doctor you need to contact them directly and book an appointment for the examination.
The Class 2 Medical typically includes tests like ECG chest X-ray eye and ear checkups and general physical fitness assessments. After the medical examiner uploads your report DGCA issues your Class 2 Medical Assessment online. This certificate is mandatory to register as a student pilot and later apply for the Class 1 Medical which is required for commercial flying.
