After completing 12th standard with PCM, students can pursue Commercial Pilot License courses to become a commercial pilot. Students have majorly two options in CPL which are given below:
- CPL-(A) – Aeroplanes: Training to fly fixed-wing aircraft commercially.
- CPL-(H) – Helicopters: Training to fly helicopters commercially.
Both commercial pilot courses are offered by DGCA-approved flying schools in India and prepare students for a rewarding aviation career all around the world.
CPL Ground Classes
Ground classes for CPL-(A) & CPL-(H) includes the same 6 pilot training modules. These modules are very essential to study as they form the strong base of a commercial pilot’s knowledge and skills prepares students for safe and professional flying. DGCA commercial pilot training modules are as below:
- Air Regulations : Study of aviation laws, rules and safety standards.
- Aviation Meteorology: Understanding weather patterns and their effect on flights.
- Air Navigation: Learning techniques to plan and navigate flights accurately.
- Technical Specific: In-depth study of specific aircraft systems and operations.
- Technical General: Basic knowledge of aircraft systems and general engineering.
- RTR: Operating communication and navigation equipment.
Practical Flight Training
CPL-(A) – Aeroplanes:
- Complete a minimum of 200 flying hours on training aircraft like Cessna 172S or Cessna 152.
- Attend simulator sessions to practice emergency scenarios safely.
- Perform cross-country flights to gain real-world navigation experience.
CPL-(H) – Helicopters:
- Complete a minimum of 150 flying hours on helicopters such as Robinson R44 or Bell 206.
- Attend simulator sessions to handle emergencies efficiently.
- Perform cross-country helicopter flights to develop skill and confidence.
This practical training equips students with the hands on experience needed to operate aircraft safely and professionally.
Integrated Programs:
- Some institutes combine CPL training with a graduation degree in aviation or aeronautical science.
- Students gain both academic qualifications and professional certification together which saves their time to complete both.
Career Opportunities:
- Work with domestic and international airlines
- Fly for cargo airlines, charter services or corporate aviation
- Progress to ATPL for higher job roles
Pursuing CPL-(A) and CPL-(H) courses after 12th provide a very organized path to become professional pilots. These course combine theoretical knowledge & practical flying training together and provide rewarding career opportunities all around the world. After gaining the CPL license pilots become master in flying the commercial aircrafts. These courses prepares students for both fixed-wing and rotary wing aviation sectors respectively.
