To enroll into a pilot course a person must have completed his or her basic school education. In India most of the countries, the minimum qualification is 10+2 (Class 12) with Physics and Math subjects as a compulsory subject. Students are also required to take English as one of the subjects since aviation communication is conducted in English throughout the world. Passing in these subjects is usually required to receive a minimum of 50-60 percent marks although percentage may change depending on the flying school / regulatory authority. In case a student has not did Physics or Mathematics in Class 12th he/she could do so later on by open schooling (such as NIOS in India). This will be to ensure that there is a sufficient pool of aspiring pilots who can comprehend aircraft functions navigation and meteorology because of their scientific and analytical background.
Besides school education most pilots training academies also conduct an entrance or an aptitude test which measures knowledge in Physics, Maths, English and the reasoning ability. To gain entry into a flight school candidates would go through a Class 2 Medical Examination (and eventually Class 1) to certify that they are in sound health physically and mentally to fly. Graduate academics are unnecessary but may be beneficial in the advancement of knowledge and career paths in aviation career especially in the direction of airline careers or aviation management. In nutshell, the basic eligibility to pursue a pilot training course is to have completed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics good English speaking and medical fitness.
