Many female students dream of becoming a pilot and today the aviation industry strongly supports them. The requirements for female candidates are almost the same as for male candidates and the opportunities are equal. To begin the journey a female aspirant must understand the basic rules age limit and training pathway for getting the first licence called the Student Pilot Licence also known as SPL.
A female candidate can start her SPL training after completing Class 10. For the SPL examination the minimum age required is seventeen years. However she can join a flying club for ground classes even earlier to learn the basics of aviation. After completing Class 12th with Physics and Mathematics she becomes eligible to continue higher pilot licences like PPL and CPL.
Medical fitness is an important part of pilot eligibility for female candidates. Before applying for SPL the aspirant needs a DGCA Class 2 medical certificate. This ensures she is healthy and fit to begin flying training. Later for advanced licences she needs a DGCA Class 1 medical certificate.
Once the female aspirant completes the basic requirements she can register at a DGCA approved flying school. She starts with ground subjects like Air Regulations Navigation Meteorology and Aircraft Technical Knowledge. After clearing the written test and oral exam she is issued the Student Pilot Licence. With SPL she can start taking instructional flying lessons with an instructor and begin her first practical experience in the aircraft.
A female aspirant can start her SPL training as soon as she completes Class 10th meets the minimum age of seventeen years and obtains her medical fitness certificate. With dedication proper training and confidence she can successfully begin her journey toward becoming a professional pilot.
