Becoming a pilot involves a step by step journey where students earn different licenses based on their training level and flying skills In aviation each license represents a milestone that takes a student closer to becoming a professional pilot Student Pilot License is always the first stage then it progresses toward Private Pilot License or Commercial Pilot License depending on the student goal
A student begins with an SPL which is mainly a learning phase At this stage the student can fly only under the supervision of an instructor SPL allows the student to understand aircraft handling basic navigation and safety rules but solo flying is allowed only after approval from the instructor and DGCA medical clearance
A student moves from SPL to PPL when they complete the required flying hours learn basic aircraft operations and pass the written examinations The PPL stage allows students to fly an aircraft independently for noncommercial purposes This stage builds confidence practical skills and deeper knowledge of aviation regulations
To move from PPL to CPL the candidate must complete higher flying hours undergo advanced training and pass DGCA examinations CPL lets the pilot fly aircraft for commercial jobs such as airlines charter flights and cargo operations This transition is based on discipline strong theoretical knowledge and practical flying performance
In simple terms the student first learns the basics under SPL then becomes an independent learner under PPL and finally becomes a professional pilot after achieving CPL By completing medical fitness flying hours and DGCA requirements the student steadily grows from beginner to licensed commercial pilot without any pause in their learning journey
