The journey to become a commercial pilot in India is exciting and full of learning. The total duration of commercial aircraft pilot training usually takes between 18 to 24 months depending on various factors such as weather conditions student performance flight availability and the chosen flight school. During this period students go through both ground and flight training. Ground training generally lasts 4 to 6 months and covers important subjects like air navigation aviation meteorology air regulations and aircraft technical knowledge. After completing the ground classes students move on to flight training which includes practical flying lessons with experienced instructors.
The commercial aircraft pilot training consists of multiple stages:
Student Pilot Licence (SPL) - The first step where you learn aviation basics and start initial flying.
Private Pilot Licence (PPL) - This stage helps you gain confidence and flying skills with around 40 to 60 flying hours.
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) - The final stage that requires around 200 flying hours including solo flights cross country flying and night flying experience.
In total to become a fully qualified commercial pilot you must complete at least 200 hours of flight time and clear DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) exams.
The overall duration can vary depending on how consistently you train. Students who attend regular sessions and maintain good performance can complete the course within 18 months. However factors like bad weather aircraft maintenance schedules or exam delays may extend the time slightly. With the right guidance from Pilot CET and dedicated effort anyone can achieve their dream of becoming a commercial pilot and start flying professionally within two years.
