Meet the basic eligibility

To become a pilot in India you must have passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as main subjects. You should be at least 17 years old. If you didn't have PCM in school you can appear for these subjects from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) or any recognized board.

Choose your pilot training path

After 12th, you can become a pilot in two ways:

  1. Commercial Pilot License (CPL) - For those who want to fly commercial airlines.

  2. Private Pilot License (PPL) - For those who wish to fly for passion or personal reasons. For CPL you'll need to complete ground training flight hours and clear DGCA exams.

Clear the Pilot Aptitude or Entrance Exam

To start your training you can take entrance tests like Pilot CET which helps you get admission to top DGCA approved flying schools. It's one of the best ways to find the right pilot academy and plan your aviation career early.

Join a DGCA approved flying school

Once you clear the entrance join a DGCA approved flying academy for practical flight training. You'll learn navigation, weather aircraft systems and flight handling.

Get your pilot licence and start your career

After completing required flying hours and DGCA exams you'll earn your Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and become eligible to apply for airline pilot jobs in India or abroad.
